Boise State Gets Victory Over San Francisco
BOISE, Idaho (3/20/2011) - Boise State University’s men’s tennis team defeated the University of San Francisco a 4-2 at the Boas Indoor Tennis Center in Boise Sunday afternoon. The win over the Dons followed an earlier 4-3 loss in the morning to the University of Idaho. Earning wins against San Francisco were Damian Hume, Filipp Pogostkin, Andy Bettles and Jeff Mullen.

“I am very proud of the team,” said Greg Patton Boise State’s head coach. “They bounced back in an hour and a half after playing Idaho to defeated USF 4-2.”

The teams decided to play the singles matches first followed by the doubles if needed. Since the Broncos won the singles by a match clinching 4-2 margin doubles were not played.

Hume gave the Broncos a commanding lead shortly after at the No. 1 singles when he won in two straight over the Dons’ Ola Bakke 6-2 and 6-3.

San Francisco cut its deficit to two when Germain Bahri defeated Boise State’s Freddy Walsh in three sets at the No. 6 position 5-7, 6-3 and 6-0.

Boise State clinched the match on the next singles match completed when Jeff Mullen down Alex Kotlyar with a pair of 6-2 straight sets victories at the No. 5 spot.

The final match went to San Francisco with Richard Bucalem defeating Boise State’s Scotty Sears 6-1, 6-4.
