Boise State Earns 4-0 Victory Over No. 39 Wisconsin


Montgomery, Ala. The No. 27 Boise State University men’s tennis team defeated No. 39 Wisconsin 4-0, Firday, in the first round of the Blue Gray Tennis Classic at Montgomery, Ala.


Boise State opened the match by taking two doubles matches to secure the doubles point.


At No. 1 doubles, Luke Shields and Piotr Dilaj defeated Nolan Polley and Moritz Bauman 8-3, to improve their record to 7-5 on the dual match season.


Eric Roberson and Blake Boswell knocked off Michae Dierberger and Michael Muskievicz 8-2, to collect their team-leading 11th doubles victory.


After securing the doubles point, Boise State won three singles matches to earn the victory.


Luke Shields, playing No. 1, defeated Jeremy Sonkin in straight sets 6-2 and 6-3.


Steve Robertson extended his winning-streak to eight matches with his 6-2 and 6-3, victory over Lachezar Kasarov, as he improved to 11-1 in dual match play.


Blake Boswell collected the clinching match point for the Broncos as he defeated Dierberger 6-0 and 7-6.


With the win, Boise State advanced to play No. 16 South Alabama at 4:30 p.m. (MT), Friday.


Last meeting, Boise State defeated No. 34 South Alabama 4-2, at Boise, Idaho on Mar. 23, 2006.
