BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State men's tennis team (10-5) defeated Radford, 4-3 in thrilling fashion, Wednesday at the Boas Tennis Center.

The Broncos started on the right track, taking an early win with wins in two doubles matches. The tandem of Damian Hume/Scott Sears won 8-6 at the No. 1 spot while James Meredith/Aidan Reid rolled, 8-2 on court three. The doubles point has been a crucial one for the Broncos this season who are 10-0 when drawing first blood and 0-3 when they fail to do so.

The Boise State lead extended from one to three as Pogostkin and Garrett Patton each finished with early victories. Pogostkin cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Joe Mills at No. 5 while Patton took care of Patrick O'Keefe at No. 6, 6-2, 6-3.

Just when it looked as if the Broncos were in store for a landslide victory, the Radford responded. The Highlanders picked up wins at the No. 4 and No. 1 positions in straight sets, tightening the score to 3-2.

The momentum continued as Radford's Stijn Meulemans defeated Andy Bettles at the No. 3 slot, 6-3, 6-3 to even the score at three apiece.

With the pressure on, the Broncos looked to their senior, Hume, to pull out the team victory. Hume and his opponent, Igor Ogrizek, had split the first two sets, 6-3, 3-6, forcing a third set to decide the fate of both the individual and team match. Hume jumped all over Ogrizek and pulled out to a 5-0 lead, but Ogrizek would rally to score three consecutive points to make it 5-3. The rally though, would end there as Hume put him away in the ninth game. The Johannesburg, South Africa native is still undefeated this season in both singles (5-0) and doubles (4-0).

The Broncos will continue play this weekend as they host Montana and No. 56 Cal Poly. The dual against Montana will be split, with doubles, Friday at 4 p.m. and singles, Saturday at 9:30 p.m. The Cal Poly match will also be played Saturday, at 3:30 p.m. All matches are scheduled to be played outdoors at the Appleton Tennis Center.
