WHAT’S HAPPENING: Boise State (1-8) is on the road once more heading to southern California and the San Diego metro area where it will play in the Pacific Coast Doubles Championship at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club. The Broncos will also play two neutral site duals at the San Diego Tennis Club with the first being against the UC Davis Aggies (4-9) on March 1, followed by a contest with Villanova on Sunday (March 4).

129th PACIFIC COAST DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIP: The PCDC is a prestigious doubles only competition played at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club in La Jolla, Calif. It features some of the top collegiate and amateur tennis players in the nation. The Broncos will have six teams competing in the 104-team tournament.

Boise State’s Lineup for the PCDC

  • Kyle Butters/Jack Heslin
  • Mattia Bedolo/Wyatt DeMulling
  • Maximilien Blancaneaux/Harvey Shackleton
  • Pedro Platzeck/Stefan Lalovic

DUALS: The Broncos are looking to get back on track against UC Davis and Villanova in a pair of dual matches over the weekend. The Broncos are coming off a trip to the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic at Montgomery. Ala., while both UC Davis and Villanova have lost two straight.

GENERAL PATTON: The “General,” head coach Greg Patton enters the year ranked No. 1 in career wins nationally among active collegiate coaches and fourth all-time at 800-398. His win percentage is .668 all-time and .685 at Boise State (449-207).

STILL LOOKING YOUNG: For the second straight year the roster does not include any seniors. But unlike last year where there were no upperclassmen (seniors or juniors), this year’s team has three returning juniors in Butters, Jack Heslin and Platzeck. They are joined by community college All-American transfers Maximilien Blancaneaux and Wyatt DeMulling as juniors.

The sophomore class will include Ryland McDermott and Harvey Shackleton, while there are four freshmen in Mattia Bedolo, Tim Heslin, Stefan Lalovic and Matteo Tinelli.
