Broncos Conclude East Coast Road Trip With Win

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. The No. 19 Boise State University men’s tennis team defeated its seventh ranked opponent of the season when it defeated No. 75 William and Mary, 5-2, Sunday at Williamsburg, Va.

As a common theme in all Boise State victories, the Broncos were able to begin the match by capturing the doubles point.

Doubles began with Luke Shields and Piotr Dilaj dropping their match to Alex Cojano and Keziel Juneau, 8-2. Playing No. 2 doubles for the season consecutive day, Clancy Shields and Steve Robertson defeated Alex Zuck and Richard Wardell, 8-2. Playing together for the first time, Blake Boswell and Stanley Sarapanich were able to clinch the doubles point for the Broncos with their 8-6 victory.

Steve Robertson began singles with a 6-4 and 6-1 defeat of Richard Wardell. After Brent Werbeck fell to Alex Zuck 6-2 and 6-1, Piotr Dilaj stepped up with a straight set victory over Marwan Ramadan, 6-4 and 6-4.

Needing one point to secure the match, the top of the order delivered. No. 80 Clancy Shields ousted Cojano 7-6, 4-6 and 6-4. No. 7 Luke Shields then knocked off No. 74 Colin O’Brien 7-5, 3-6 and 6-1, securing the victory for Boise State.

The Broncos will return home Mar. 3, to face No. 66 Penn at 1:00 p.m.
