Broncos Lose to No. 3 Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. The Boise State University men’s tennis team (8-4) was defeated 7-0 at the hands of No. 3 Virginia at the Boyd Tinsley Courts, Saturday, at Charlottesville, Va.


Once again the Broncos failed to win the dual match after dropping the doubles point.


Boise State began strong when Blake Boswell and Eric Roberson defeated Marko Miklo and Lee Singer, 8-3. Needing just one victory in the remaining two matches to capture the doubles point the Broncos could not secure win. Clancy Shields and Steve Robertson dropped their match to Dominic Inglot and Houston Barrick, 8-6. At No. 1 doubles, Luke Shields and Piotr Dilaj fell to Somdev Devvarman and Treat Huey, 8-4.


The Broncos dropped all six doubles matches for the first time this season.


In a match-up of top 10 ranked singles players, No. 4 Devvarman defeated Luke Shields, 6-0, 5-7, 10-6.
