No. 22 Broncos Prep for New Mexico and No. 25 Texas A&M

BOISE, Idaho The Boise State men’s tennis team will kick-off six weeks of away matches this Friday, January 25 when they travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico to face the University of New Mexico. They continue their weekend in College Station, Texas where they face Texas A&M on Sunday, January 27.

The No. 22 ranked Broncos (4-0) will take on the No. 54 ranked Lobos (1-1) in their second meeting of the 2008 spring season. In their last meeting, BSU snuck past UMN in a 4-3 match in the finals of the Mountain Regional Playoffs held on January 19 in Boise.

Friday’s match will be the third dual for the Broncos this season, after sweeping Montana State and Utah State on January 17, both in 4-0 matches.

The Broncos boast four players who are ranked in the January 8 preseason rankings, including: No. 19 Clancy Shields (junior), No. 47 Luke Shields (senior), No. 65 Eric Roberson (senior), and No. 69 Brent Werbeck (senior). BSU also boasts the No. 41 ranked doubles team of Roberson and Paul Koenke.

The Lobos have one ranked player, No. 35 Max Jones, while also having one ranked doubles team, Jones and Kamil Pajkowski, who rank No. 48. The BSU/New Mexico dual is slated for a 6 p.m. (MT) start.

In their Sunday dual, the Broncos face No. 25 ranked Texas A&M for the first time this season in College Station, Texas. The Aggies seek their first action of the season on January 25 when they play host to Clemson and Texas A&M Corpus Christi at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. TAMU will take on the Broncos two days later at the Mitchell Tennis Center at 1 p.m.

The Aggies boast two ranked singles players, No. 23 Connor Pollock (junior), and No. 90 ranked Chris Chirico (sophomore).

Weather permitting, the matches will be played outside and live stats will be available at the Texas A&M dual at If the weather does not permit outdoor matches, the competition will be moved indoors and will not contain live stats.
