Boise State Opens Season on the Islands Against Hawai'i

WHAT'S HAPPENING THIS WEEK
  • Boise State (0-0) opens the 2015 team season on the road against the University of Hawai'i on the Island of Maui Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. (Mountain Time).
  • The 33rd-ranked Broncos begin five straight weeks on the road and will not play at home until the weekend of Feb. 27-March 1.
  • Lineup: Representing the Broncos this weekend will be Garrett Patton, Thomas Tenreiro, Brian Foley, Toby Mitchell, Abe Hewko and Lewis Roskilly.
   
NEXT UP
  • Next week Boise State will head to Los Angels, Calif., to participate in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Kick-Off Weekend against No. 41 Texas Tech followed by a match against either No. 4 UCLA or No. 53 Pepperdine. The winner advances to the national indoor championship.
        
ITA REGIONAL RANKINGS
  • Boise State has four players regionally ranked by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). 
  • Singles: Senior Garrett Patton begins the 2015 dual season ranked ninth in the ITA Mountain Region, while junior Thomas Tenreiro is 10th. 
  • Doubles: In doubles the team of junior Brian Foley and junior Toby Mitchell enter the spring ranked ninth in the region. 
       
QUICK LOOK AT BOISE STATE
  • The Record: This is the first weekend of the 2015 team dual season.
  • Last Year: The Broncos went 28-5 overall and finished the year ranked 29th.
  • The Broncos at Home: Boise State went 14-1 at home last season competing at both the Boas Indoor Tennis Center and the Appleton Outdoor Tennis Center.
  • Attendance:  Boise State finished the 2014 campaign ranked fourth nationally in total attendance, while the women came in at third. 
  • The Broncos on the Road: The Broncos went 14-4 on the road in 2014.
  • The Coach: Greg Patton is in his 19th season as head coach at Boise State where he is 408-150 overall in team duals, his career mark is 759-343 in 35 years.
      
DEFENDING MW CHAMPIONS
  • League Champions: Boise State is the three-time defending Mountain West Tournament champion and is undefeated in the event since joining the league for the 2011-12 season. 
  • NCAA Tournament Participant: Boise State advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2014 for the 17th time in school history and the ninth time in the last nine years.
