Jan. 10, 2017

BOISE, Idaho - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has released its preseason team (top 25), singles and doubles rankings heading into the start of the 2017 team duals season this weekend. Among those ranked nationally are Boise State’s doubles team of Kyle Butters and Jack Heslin, the Kiwi Konnection, who come in at No. 51.

The Boise State sophomore tandem went a 6-2 as a doubles team last fall and advanced to the title match at the ITA Mountain Regional Championship in Las Vegas, Nev., in October. They came within one victory of advancing to the ITA National Indoor Championship.

The duo also enters the year ranked second in the ITA Mountain Region behind Denver’s Alex Gasson and Yannick James, the team that defeated the Broncos pair in the title match at regionals last fall.

Butters, a sophomore from Wanganui, New Zealand, enters the spring duals ranked 10th in singles for the ITA Mountain Region, while Heslin, a sophomore from Auckland, New Zealand, starts ranked 17th.
