Shackleton Advances at Bulldog Classic

SPOKANE, Wash. - Harvey Shackleton won his singles match on Friday to advance into Saturday's round of 16 at the Bulldog Classic at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash. The sophomore from Hertfordshire, England, put away Portland State's Otto Hotari in straight sets 7-5, 6-2 to move on in the main draw. He will face either Gonzaga's Kyle Everly or Montana State's Mateus Ceolin tomorrow.



Shackleton also teamed up with sophomore Ryland McDermott in doubles on Friday. They won their first match 8-4 over Eastern Washington's Martin Bats and Garner Sears. The Boise State duo ─ the lone Broncos competing in the tournament ─ then fell 8-4 in the round of 16 to Gonzaga's Everly and Vincent Rettke.

McDermott battled Montana's Victor Casadevall in the opening round of singles were he was edged out by the Grizzly 6-4, 7-5. The native of Las Vegas will now move into Saturday's consolation draw.
