BOISE, Idaho - Boise State finished the conference regular season with a 7-0 sweep over Air Force on Saturday at the Appleton Tennis Center in Boise. Boise State won the doubles point 2-1 then swept all six singles matches including victories by seniors Andy Bettles and Nathan Sereke. The 24th-ranked Broncos’ win was the 12th straight at home and improved the Blue and Orange to an impressive 24-4 on the year while remaining undefeated 5-0 in league.

It was an impressive start to a doubleheader day as the Broncos close the regular season on Saturday. The decisive doubles match came down to court one where Bettles and Thomas Tenreiro took a while before downing the Academy’s Alex Grubbs and Jack McCullers 8-3. They are now 18-5 on the year and 16-4 in duals this spring.

The roll through the singles competition started early on courts two and one, respectively, and led by two of the three seniors. Sereke finished first at No. 2 singles where he improved to 14-12 on the year with a straight set 6-0, 6-2 win over McCullers.

That was followed literally minutes later by Bettles who dominated Air Force’s Jackson 6-1, 6-0 on court one. The 82nd-ranked Bettles advanced to 23-14 in singles victories this season.

Mitchell clinched the team victory with his two-set sweep 6-1, 6-1 of Fumagalli at No. 5 singles. He became the fourth Bronco this year to reach the 20-win milestone as he improved to 20-7 overall and 12-3 in spring duals.

Boise State’s lead was extended to 5-0 following Tenreiro’s 6-4, 6-3 victory on court three over Steven Young. The sophomore from Miami, Fla., is now 18-12 this season.
