SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Pedro Platzeck’s win at No. 6 singles led Boise State Sunday afternoon in a 6-1 loss at UC Santa Barbara in a nonconference men’s tennis match. The loss to the Gauchos snapped a three-match win streak for the Broncos who moved to 4-9 overall.

UCSB opened the match by taking the team doubles point 2-0 with wins on courts three and one, respectively.

Leading 1-0 the Gauchos stretched their advantage out to 3-0 with wins at No. 1 singles where Boise State’s Jack Heslin was forced to retire because of injury, followed by a win one court three where Matteo Tinelli fell in two sets.

Platzeck brought the Broncos back within two points when he easily defeated Ajai Shekhera in straight sets 6-1, 6-0 at the sixth position. The junior has now won a team-best four consecutive singles matches.

The Gauchos closed the day out with three straight wins at No. 2, 4 and 5 singles. Wyatt DeMulling lost a heartbreaker on court five where he lost in a third-set tiebreaker to Victor Krustev 6-0, 2-6, 1-0 (10-7).
