Blancaneaux and Shackleton Advance

LA JOLLA, Calif. - Boise State’s Maximilien Blancaneaux and Harvey Shackleton swept a pair of doubles matches Saturday to advance to the consolation semifinals of the Pacific Coast Doubles Championship at La Jolla, Calif. Blancaneaux and Shackleton opened Saturday with a straight set 6-3, 6-2 victory over Boston College’s Jeff Melvin and Will Turner to reach the quarterfinals.

The Boise State tandem then followed with a thrilling three-set victory versus UC Irvine’s Mason Hansen and Luca Marquard. Blancaneaux and Shackleton won the first set only to see the Anteaters rally and force the contest into a decisive third. The Bronco duo then put it away for a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win to advance into Sunday’s consolation semifinals at 10 a.m. (Mountain) against UCLA’s Max Cressy and Bryce Pereira.

Blancaneaux and Shackleton have won three-straight matches and are the only Broncos remaining in the tournament which concludes Sunday morning. Once the OCDC wraps up, the Broncos will then travel a short distance to the San Diego Tennis Club to face the Villanova Wildcats at 3 p.m. (Mountain) before returning home Sunday night.
