Boise State's Blake Brown receives two honors, named WAC Men's Golfer of the Month and Junior Golf Association of Arizona Player

BOISE Boise State’s Blake Brown has been named the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Golfer of the Month for November.

Brown, a freshman from Scottsdale, Ariz. (Horizon HS), finished third out of 75 golfers at the Kauai Collegiate Invite in Lihue, Hawaii, Nov. 3-5. Brown shot a 13-under 203 (68-68-67), turning in his best performance as a Bronco. He finished just two strokes back of the winner and his total was the best three-round score by a Boise State golfer this season.

In addition, Brown has been named the Junior Golf Association of Arizona Player of the Year for 2008. He won five tournaments this past year to capture the prestigious title. Blake Brown started the year with three straight wins, beginning with the Phoenix Junior City Championship. He then went on to win the Thunderbird Junior Classic by five shots, firing a final round 9-under par, 63. Brown finished 2nd at the Junior Boys State Championship and culminated the year with a scoring average of 69.17. Not bad for the Horizon High School graduate and current Boise State University freshman.
