BOISE, Idaho (11/11/2010) - Boise State Men’s Golf Head Coach Kevin Burton announced today the signing of Idaho prep standout Jon Van Dyk to a National Letter of Intent. Van Dyk is currently a senior at Eagle High School in the Boise metro area. He is one of the top youth amateurs in the state placing second at last year’s Idaho High School 5A State Championship. In three years at Eagle High Van Dyk has helped his team win two state titles in 2008 and 2010. In amateur play, he is the defending Idaho Golf Association (IGA) Match Play Champion. He also won the 2010 John Dropping Memorial at Hillcrest Country Club by 9 shots. Van Dyk will join the Broncos next fall.

“Jon has proven this last year that he is probably one of the best high school golfers to ever come out of this state,” said Burton. “We are very thrilled that he has chosen to stay here in Boise and play for Boise State.  He will be a great asset to this team, as he has all the ability and skills to succeed in golf and school.”

The Boise State men’s golf team is currently on winter break. The Broncos are scheduled to start the spring portion of their schedule Feb. 14-15 at the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational hosted by Southern Utah University at Sunbrook Country Club in St. George, Utah.
