Merritt Is Tied For Second Place After Round One in Hawaii

HONOLULU, Hawaii - The Boise State University men’s golfer Troy Merritt is tied for second place after shooting a season-low 64 (-8) in the first round of the Turtle Bay Invitational.


The Boise State men’s golf team also registered a season-low 12-under 276 in the first round to capture sole possession of 12th place in the 21-team field. The first round of the Turtle Bay Invitational saw 20 of the 21 teams shoot even-par or better in the first round.


Three other Bronco golfers also registered their low-round of the year in the first round of competition. Matt Hastings shot a 4-under 68 to tie for 24, Shawn Tonkin posted a 72 (E) to tie for 73rd and Tyler McDougall recorded a 1-under 73. John Baranco rounded out the scoring for Boise State with an even-par 72.


The second round of the Turtle Bay Invitational will begin Tuesday, Nov. 6, beginning with a tee start at 7:20 a.m. (HT).
