Merritt Named WAC Golfer of the Month

BOISE, Idaho Troy Merritt of the Boise State University men’s golf team was named the Western Athletic Conference Golfer of the Month for October.


In three tournaments Merritt garnered a tie for first and a third place finish. At the District VII Shootout in Las Vegas tied for first place before losing in a playoff (69-62-70 201, -12). His tournament was highlighted by his 9-under par, 62 in the second round, tying Chris Clark’s record set in 1988. Merritt also helped led the Broncos to a second place finish at the shootout.


In the Santa Clara Invitational Merritt captured third place with his 214 (-2) for the tournament and helped Boise State to a sixth place finish in the 17-team field.


Merritt is the second consecutive Bronco to win WAC Golfer of the Month; Nick Travers captured the honor in September.
