Broncos Leave the Mainland to Play in the Kauai Collegiate Invitational November 3-5

  • What’s Happening: Boise State will head to Lihue, Hawai’i for the Kauai Collegiate Invitational which will be played Monday through Wednesday, November 3-5, at the Puakea Golf Course. The tournament is the final competition for the Bronco men’s golf team in their 2008 fall season.

  • The Broncos’ Tournament Roster: The Broncos will travel five team members including: Scott Loewen, a senior, who will be starting at the number one position, followed by junior John Baranco, freshman Blake Brown, junior Robbie Richards and senior Kevin Tarango.

  • The Tournament: The tournament will be played in a 54-hole stroke play format with the four lowest scores counted for each round towards the team total. One round will be played each day, with any team or individual ties being broken by a sudden death playoff (with time permitting). The tournament will feature 14 teams and approximately 70 individuals competing.

  • The Course: The three-day tournament will be held at the Puakea Golf Course in Lihue, Hawai’i. The course is a 72-par course and covers 6,954 yards. For more information on the course, check out the course website:

  • The Field: The teams included in the 14 team field are: Boise State University, San Jose State University, the University of Hawai’i and Louisiana Tech University from the Western Athletic Conference; Gonzaga University, Loyola Marymount University, the University of San Francisco and the University of San Diego from the West Coast Conference; James Madison University and the University of North Carolina-Wilmington of the Colonial Athletic Association; the University of California-Riverside from the Big West Conference; Drake University of the Missouri Valley Conference; the University of Utah from the Mountain West Conference; and Osaka Gakuin University from Osaka, Japan.
