Spiewak in Second, One Stroke Back of Leader

LAYTON, Utah – Senior Scott Spiewak is in second place individually, and has the Boise State men’s golf team in a tie for second place after two rounds of the Wildcat Invitational, Monday.

Spiewak posted sub-par rounds of 71 (-1) and 67 (-5) on the opening day of the event, and his two-round total of 138 (-6) at the par-72, 7,147-yard Valley View Golf Course has him just one stroke back of the leader entering Tuesday’s final round.

Spiewak’s second-round score is the lowest of the tournament thus far, and his 11 birdies through two rounds are tied for the most in the field.

The Broncos are tied for second place as a team with a two-round total of 587 (+11), trailing Sacramento State by 15 strokes.

Junior Jordan Skyles enters the final round tied for 18th after posting a 36-hole total of 147 (+3). He is two strokes back of the top 10, and will be looking for his fourth top-25 finish in as many tournaments since joining the Broncos prior to this season.

Rounding out the scoring for the Broncos were senior Taylor Porter (74-76—150, +6), junior Clayton Kosanovich (76-76—152, +8) and junior Taeksoo Kim (77-76—153, +9).
