Boise State Ties for 10th-Place at Wolf Pack Classic...
Brown moves up 22 positions to tie for 21st.
RENO, Nev. (10/6/2009) - Boise State University’s men’s golf team carded an even-par 288 on the final day of the Wolf Pack Classic to tie for 10th-place out of 13 teams with a total score of 879 (+15) at the Reno, Nev., tournament. Blake Brown tallied a three-under 269 this afternoon to rally 22 positions on the leaderboard finishing in a seven-way tie for 21st with a final three-round score of even-par 218.
Boise State entered the final session of the Classic in 11th-place after Monday’s first two rounds. The Broncos improved with each round they played as they tallied a 288 (E) today shaving three strokes off yesterday’s second round total and 12 off their first round score. Today’s tally was enough for Boise State to move into a tie for 10th-place with Gonzaga University. Wichita State University won the team competition with a 17-under 847.
Blake Brown found himself in a tie for 43rd-place after yesterday’s two rounds with a score of five-over-par 149. Mirroring the team, he also improved his score with each round at the Wolf Pack Classic as he fired a three-under 69 today to go with his 77 (+5) in round one and 72 (E) in the second to give him a final score of two-over-par 218. In nine rounds played this fall Brown has scored par or below in six to lead Boise State with the best score in all three tournaments to date.
John Baranco finished in a seven-way tie for 45th after carding a tournament total of six-over 222. He turned in a four-over 76 this afternoon to go with his 74 (+2) and 72 (E) in yesterday’s rounds.
Robbie Richards also improved on his score with each round as he tallied a two-under 70 today. In the three-round tournament he finished with a seven-over 223 (77-76-70) to place in a six-way tie for 52nd.
They were followed by two freshmen Taeksoo Kim and Clayton Kosanovich who finished with 226 (+10) and 234 (+18) respectively. Kim recorded a one-over 73 on the final 18 holes today, while Kosanovich scored a 13-over 85.
The Broncos will take a couple of weeks off from active competition to focus on classes and prepare for the final tournament of the fall when they travel to Las Cruces, N.M., for the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate hosted by New Mexico State University Oct. 26-27.
