Kim Sits atop Jim Colbert Leaderboard
MANHATTAN, Kan. – Boise State junior men’s golfer Taeksoo Kim leads the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate after two rounds Monday, and has the Broncos within striking distance of first place as a team headed into Tuesday’s final round.

Kim – one of two Broncos in the top 10 and one of three in the top 25 – is the only player in the 48-man field under-par after the first day at the par-72, 7,525-yard Colbert Hills Golf Club.

He posted an even-par 72 in the opening round, and followed with a 5-under 67 in the second. His 36-hole total of 139 (-5) leads a trio of golfers tied for second place by five strokes.

“He played amazing today, and probably could have gone even lower,” Boise State head coach Kevin Burton said. “I’m looking forward to seeing what he does in the final round, and what we do as a team. We aren’t too far off the lead, and I’m hopeful we can put together a great final round.”

Fellow junior Clayton Kosanovich is in fifth place after posting rounds of 71 (-1) and 74 (+2). His two-round total of 145 (+1) is six strokes off Kim’s lead.

Senior Scott Spiewak is in 14th place with a two-round total of 150 (+6), two strokes back of the top 10.

The trio has Boise State in second place as a team, just six strokes back of first place. The Broncos’ day-one total of 588 (+12) trails only Idaho (582, +6). The total is three strokes better than tournament-host Kansas State (591, +15).

Junior Jordan Skyles (157, +13) and redshirt junior Charlie Marusiak (161, +17) round out the Bronco contingent.

The tournament’s final round will begin with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday. Final results will be available at
