    BOISE, Idaho - Boise State golfers Jacob Byers and Tristan Rohrbaugh captured the IGA sectional four-ball title Monday at Falcon Crest Golf Club, earning the qualifying bid to the 2017 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship.

    With one spot at the championship at stake, Byers and Rohrbaugh carded a score of 59 (-13), with Rohrbaugh shooting a course-record 61 (-11). Together the pair's score included two eagles, 10 birdies, five pars and just one bogey.

    Other current Broncos in action at Falcon Crest included senior David Elliott, who, with playing partner Justin McAfee finished second at 63 (-9), and freshmen Brian Humphreys and Connor Johnstone, who finished sixth with a score of 67 (-5).

    Byers and Rohrbaugh will now compete at the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship, set for May 24-31, 2017, at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club in Pinehurst, N.C. A total of 128 teams will compete at the event, beginning with two rounds of stroke play from which the field will be cut down to 32 for the match-play competition.
