Kim Completes First Round at Amateur Championship

CHERRY HILLS VILLAGE, Colo. – Boise State University senior men’s golfer Taeksoo Kim opened the U.S. Amateur Championship with a 2-over-par 72 at the CommonGround Golf Course, Monday.

Kim, who received an invitation to the tournament Saturday after initially qualifying as an alternate, is just one stroke back of a tie for 64th in the field of 311 individuals.

The top 64 players after Tuesday’s second round will move on to the match play portion of the championship tournament.

Kim posted two birdies, 12 pars and four bogeys during his opening round, played on the 7,427-yard course - one of two being used for the tournament.

He is scheduled to tee off Tuesday at 2:15 p.m., at Cherry Hills Country Club.
