July 24, 2017

MEDFORD, Ore. – Following a top 25 finish at last week’s Pacific Coast Amateur Championship, Boise State men’s golfer Brian Humphreys qualified for the US Amateur Championship with a victory at the 2017 US Amateur Sectional Qualifier, Monday.

Humphreys finished the two round of play at Centennial Golf Club in Medford, Ore. with a score of 133 (66-67, -11). Humphreys was the lone competitor in the field to qualify for the 2017 US Amateur Championship.

The rising sophomore and defending Mountain West individual champion had only two bogeys through both rounds. Humphreys made 11 birdies, including four in a row to end the first round, while also making an eagle.

Humphreys will now compete at the US Amateur Championship, August 14-20 at The Riviera Golf Club and Bel-Air Country Club, in Pacific Palisades and Los Angeles, Calif., respectively.
