GULLANA, Scotland - The Open Championship returns to Muirfield Thursday, and former Boise State men's golfer Graham DeLaet will be competing for the Claret Jug.

The major championship will be his first as a PGA TOUR professional.

DeLaet, who played for the Broncos from 2001-06, was added to the tournament field July 8 based off his Official World Golf Ranking, which is currently 65th.

He is believed to be the first former Bronco to receive an invitation to one of golf's four major championships, and the first to play in a major since David Lebeck (1992-94) qualified for the U.S. Open in 1999.

DeLaet will be paired with Jonas Blixt of Sweden and Brian Davis of England for the first two rounds of the major championship, with tee times scheduled for 8 a.m. Thursday (1 a.m. MT), and 1:01 p.m. Friday (6:01 a.m. MT).

The Open Championship will be televised by ESPN, beginning at 2 a.m. MT on both Thursday and Friday. Saturday's broadcast will begin at 5 a.m., and final-round coverage will start at 4 a.m.

During his Boise State career, DeLaet won 10 tournaments and is the school's all-time leader in both career top-10 finishes (26) and top-25 finishes (37). The only three-time NCAA Regional Championships participant in school history was also named all-conference in 2003, 2004 and 2006, and was the Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year in 2002 and the WAC Player of the Year in his final collegiate campaign.

He is in the midst of his finest season since earning his way onto the PGA TOUR in 2010, having registered five top-10 finishes and 10 top 25s. He has made the cut in 16 of his 19 events this year, and has won more than $1.5 million on tour this season.

DeLaet is currently 24th in the FedEdCup Standings, and is the No. 1 ball striker on tour, ranking first in greens in regulation and second in total driving.
