July 16, 2013

LORTON, Va. - Former Boise State men's golfer T.K. Kim advanced to the match play portion of the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship, Tuesday.

Kim finished the two rounds of stroke play tied for 26th, and will open match play as the No. 29 seed, squaring off against 36th-seeded Nick Brothers of Crystal River, Fla.

He carded a 4-over-par 74 in Monday's opening round at the 7,058-yard Laurel Hill Golf Club, and followed with a 2-under 68, Tuesday.

His second-round score was one of only 20 sub-par rounds on the day in the 156-man field, and moved him from a tie for 83rd into the top half of the match play bracket.

After shooting 2-under on the back nine - his opening side - Kim navigated the front at even-par, which played nearly 2.5 strokes over par for the field during the second round.

The Round of 64 Matches will begin Wednesday, and Kim's match is slated to begin at 7:30 a.m. MT.

Should Kim advance, both the Round of 32 and the Round of 16 are scheduled for Thursday. Quarterfinal Matches and Semifinal Matches are scheduled for Friday, and the Championship Match is scheduled for Saturday.
