Golfers Earn Top Finishes at Amateur Events

BOISE, Idaho –
A quartet of Boise State golfers earned top finishes at a pair of summer amateur tournaments this past weekend.

Rising sophomore Brian Humphreys was the runner-up in match play at the 108th Oregon Amateur at the Oregon Golf Club in West Linn, Ore.

Humphreys – the reigning Mountain West champion – made 31 birdies in the match play bracket to advance to the final round against rising UCLA junior Cole Madey, a West Linn native. In the final, Humphreys fell to Madey, the No. 1 seed, 5 & 4.

In stroke play, Humphreys finished tied for 18th at 11-over (74-79 – 153).

A trio of Broncos finished in the top 20 at the 2017 Idaho Men’s Amateur State Championship at Falcon Crest Golf Club in Kuna, Idaho. Incoming freshman Skyler Eubank finished fifth with a three round score of 208 (69-67-72, -8). Eubank made 10 birdies and 14 pars over the course of the tournament.

Rising senior Jacob Byers was even through the third round to finish tied for 10th. Byers made 12 birdies on the weekend to finish with a three round score of 215 (71-72-72, -1).

Caldwell native and rising sophomore Connor Johnstone shot 221 (75-75-73, +5) for three rounds to finish tied for 17th.
