Boise State Alum Troy Merritt Qualifies for Second Nationwide Tour Competition

Merritt will compete in this week's Melwood Prince George’s County Open.

BOISE, Idaho (6/3/2009) Boise State alum Troy Merritt has qualified for his second PGA Nationwide Tour competition of the year. The former Bronco (2006-2008) fired a 67 in Monday’s qualifying round and will compete in the Melwood Prince George’s County Open at Mitchellville, Md., which begins tomorrow morning.  The Country Club at Woodmore is hosting the tournament and features a par-72 course that runs 7,059 yards. Merritt is paired with Adam Bland and Brendan Steele, the trio will tee off tomorrow at 1:50 p.m. (Eastern).

Merritt competed earlier this year in the BMW Charity Pro-Am May 14-17 in South Carolina where he tied for 35th overall carding a 12-under 274. He is currently ranked 150th in money earned this year on the Nationwide Tour.
