BOISE, Idaho - Boise State freshman Brian Humphreys tees off at the Stanford Regional Monday morning at par-70, 6,727-yard Stanford Golf Course. Humphreys is scheduled to tee off at 11:20 a.m. MT in a three-man group with South Dakota State's Trevor Tobin and Cornell's Mike Graboyes.

The Stanford Regional will feature 13 teams (five golfers apiece) and 10 individual entries, making for a 75-golfer field. The top five teams in the team standings will advance to the NCAA Championships, set for May 26-31 at Rich Harvest Farms in Big Rock Township, Ill. In order to advance to the NCAA Championships, Humphreys will need to finish as the top individual among golfers not on one of the five advancing teams.

Humphreys will become the the sixth Bronco to compete at a NCAA Regional and the first since T.K. Kim in 2013. Humphreys' trip to the regional will also be the eighth overall appearance by a Bronco golfer, joining David Lebeck (1993), Jarrod Warner (1998), Graham DeLaet (2003-04, 2006), Troy Merritt (2008) and Kim.

Humphreys, named the Mountain West Freshman of the Year and to the All-Mountain West Team April 29, earned an automatic bid to the via his victory at the Mountain West Championships April 21-23 in Tucson, Ariz. The Washougal, Wash., native shot 12-under on the par-72 Catalina Course at Omni Tucson National Resort, picking up a two-stroke victory over teammate Donny Hopoi (-10). The Bronco freshman fired rounds of 67-68-69 over the weekend, claiming sole possession of the lead after Saturday's second round and holding off Hopoi's final-round charge with birdies on Nos. 16 and 18 Sunday to clinch the title.

That performance also helped Boise State to a third-place finish at the conference championships, the highest finish at the Mountain West event by the program since joining the conference in 2011-12.

Humphreys became the third Bronco to earn a conference's top freshman honor, joining Matt Hastings (WAC, 2005) and DeLaet (WAC, 2002) as the only Bronco men's golfers to be named conference freshman of the year. He is also just the second Bronco to be tabbed for the All-Mountain West Team, joining Kim (2013).

The victory at the Mountain West Championships was the third tournament win of the year for Humphreys. He captured his first medalist honor at the Ogio Utah Invitational (Oct. 3-4), shooting 3-under to finish tied for the lead after the final round. His second victory came at the Del Walker Intercollegiate (Feb. 27-28), as he outlasted the field and the conditions in Long Beach to finish at 1-under. His performance at the event also helped Boise State capture the team title, as the team overcame an eight-stroke, final-round deficit to earn a four-stroke victory and the program's first team title since October 2013.

Humphreys, who averages 72.03 strokes per round in 2016-17, has posted five top-10 finishes in his debut campaign. In addition to his three victories, he has finished tied for second at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational (Oct. 27-29) and third at the Folino Invitational (Jan. 30-31).

He was twice named Mountain West Golfer of the Week in the spring (Feb. 7, March 1) and in the fall was named Mountain West Golfer of the Month (October/November).
