Kim moves up to 9th, Kosanovich finishes 13th.

HENDERSON, Nev. (5/4/2011) - Boise State University’s men’s golf team closed its last Club Glove Western Athletic Conference Championship Wednesday afternoon by recording its top round of the tournament with a 15-over 303 at Rio Secco Golf Club in Henderson, Nev. The Broncos finished the three-day tournament tied for seventh-place with the University of Hawai’i at 921 (+57). New Mexico State University ran away with the team title by 13 strokes finishing at 11-over 875. A pair of sophomores led Boise State as Taeksoo Kim finished tied for ninth, while Clayton Kosanovich tied for 13th.

New Mexico State won its fourth-straight WAC team championship by 13 strokes over second-place San Jose State who shot a three-round score of 24-over 888. The Spartans just edged Fresno State as the Bulldogs fell to third after leading the team competition on day one, they finished the tournament at 25-over 889.

Boise State fired a tournament-low 303 (+15) on the final day of the championship in Nevada. The Broncos rallied late to tie Hawaii who had passed Boise State midway through the round. The two finished tied for seventh-place at 57-over 921.

On the individual side of the WAC championship, Mark Hubbard of San Jose State and Damain Telles of the University of Idaho tied for the title with 4-under 212’s. Fresno State’s Bryan Hogan was third, two strokes back at 2-under 214.

Taeksoo Kim rallied from a tie for 11th yesterday to finish in a three-way tie for ninth-place after carding a 2-over 74 this afternoon, giving him a final tally of 8-over 224.  Clayton Kosanovich had a solid tournament finishing in a four-way tie for 13th. The sophomore from Arizona shot a 3-over 75 today for a final three-round score of 10-over 226.

Rounding out the Boise State scoring at the WAC championship were Taylor Porter at 21-over 237 (78-83-76), Charlie Marusiak at 22-over 238 (81-79-78) and Scott Spiewak who shot a 6-over 78 today (DQ-79-78).

This marks the close of the 2010-11 campaign for Boise State. The Broncos will return six members of this year’s squad when they open Mountain West Conference play next season.
