HENDERSON, Nev. (5/3/2010) - Boise State University's men's golf team finished the first day of the Club Glove Western Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship in eighth-place out of nine teams. The Broncos shot a 13-over 301 this afternoon on the first 18 holes of the tournament to find themselves 20 strokes off the pace set by the University of Nevada who leads with a 7-under 281.

"I think we played solid but we gave too many away on the back side. I'm pleased with how our team hung in there and tried to stick it out. I think if we just tighten it up a little bit we should see better scores." Head Coach Kevin Burton

On the individual side, Blake Brown is leading Boise State after carding an even-par 72 to open the three-day competition. The Scottsdale, Ariz., native is in a seven-way tie for 13th-place on the leaderboard. New Mexico State's Tim Madigan has the first day lead firing an 8-under 64 in today's first round, he leads by three strokes overall.

Boise State freshman Taeksoo Kim followed Brown with a 3-over 75 to open his first-ever WAC Championship tournament in a seven-way tie for 23rd. Rounding out the scoring for the Broncos were senior Robbie Richards who recorded a 4-over 76 followed by senior John Baranco and freshman Clayton Kosanovich who are tied at 6-over 78 after the opening round.
