PROVO, Utah (4/23/2010) - Boise State University's Taeksoo Kim carded a 3-under 141 in today's first and second rounds of the PING Cougar Classic to finish the day in a four-way tie for fifth-place. The Bronco men's golf team started the day slow firing a 16-over 304 in the opening session before rallying to shave 16 strokes of its first round total to record an even-par 288 in the afternoon. Boise State was tied for 16th out 18 teams after round one but managed to climb four positions into 12th-place by the end of the day with a 16-over 592, 23 strokes off first-place Colorado State University who turned in a 7-under 569.

On the individual side of the competition each member of Boise State's five-man squad improved upon his first round score in the second session. Highlighting the day was Kim who recorded his best two-round performance of the year, both were under-par. The freshman from Hawaii shot a 1-under 71 in the morning followed by a career-low 2-under 70 on the second 18. He will enter tomorrow's final round in a four-way tie for fifth-place. Augusta State University's Patrick Reed leads after 36 holes with a 9-under 135.

Senior John Baranco turned in the second-lowest two round score for Boise State on Friday with a 3-over 147. The Boise native shot a 3-over 75 to open the day before recording an even-par 72 in the afternoon to finish in a seven-way tie for 32nd. Four strokes back was senior Robbie Richards who shot 7-over 151 (77-74) today. Freshman Clayton Kosanovich followed with a 9-over 153 (81-72), while junior Chris Byrne rounded out the Boise State scoring with a 22-over 166 (86-80).

The final round of the PING Cougar Classic is tentatively scheduled to begin Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. (Mountain) by tee times. Weather may force a delay before the action begins.
