SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Boise State junior men’s golfer Taeksoo Kim fired a career-low, second-round 66 (-4), shooting up the leaderboard at the Cowboy Classic, Monday.

After posting a 1-over-par 71 to open the event, Kim’s career-low round moved him 44 places up the leaderboard into 14th place in the 122-man field. His two-round total of 137 (-3) at the par-70, 7,133-yard Talking Stick Golf Club has him one stroke back of the top 10 headed into Tuesday’s final round.

Kim’s second-round score was tied for the eighth-lowest in 244 rounds played thus far at the event, and is tied for eighth-lowest in school history.

Senior Scott Spiewak carded a 3-under 67 in the opening round, and will enter the final round tied for 20th with a 36-hole total of 138 (-2).

The Broncos are tied with Arizona State at 12th place in the 23-team field. Boise State followed an opening-round 282 (+2) with an even-par 280 for a two-round total of 562 (+2), and is just one stroke back of a three-way tie for ninth place.

Freshman Jon VanDyk (141; +1), redshirt junior Charlie Marusiak (146; +6) and junior Clayton Kosanovich (148; +8) rounded out the scoring for the Broncos.

The final round is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (MT).
