Merritt in Fifth Place At Cowboy Classic

Scottsdale, Ariz. Boise State University golfer Troy Merritt is in fifth place with a 4-under 140, through two rounds of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic played Monday, Apr. 7.


Merritt posted a 71 (+1) in the first round and followed it up with a 65 (-5) to remain amongst the leaders. Merritt is tied for sixth place at the tournament with eight birdies and tied for eight with a 3.92 par-4 scoring average.


Boise State is currently in eighth place after two rounds with an 8-over 568 at the par 70, 7,133-yard Talking Stick Golf Club.


Matt Hastings and John Baranco are tied for 43rd place with a 3-over 143. Kevin Tarango posted a 146 (+6) and Robbie Richards recorded a 156 (+16) to round out the scoring for Boise State for the first 36 holes of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic.


The tournament will conclude Tuesday, Apr. 7, with the final 18 holes beginning with a shotgun tee time at 7:45 a.m.
