Merritt Leads Field At OGIO Pacific Coast Intercollegiate



Santa Barbara, Calif. Boise State University golfer Troy Merritt leads the field with an 8-under 134 after opening two rounds of the OGIO Pacific Coast Intercollegiate, played Monday, Mar. 31.


Merritt is seeking his second consecutive individual title and his fourth of the season, which would tie the Boise State record. Merritt posted a 66 (-5) in the first round and a 68 (-3) in the second to establish a two-stroke lead heading into the final 18-holes Tuesday, Apr. 1.


The Broncos are currently in fourth place in the 12-team field with a 591 (+25).


Rounding out the scoring for Boise State was John Baranco in a tie for 34th place (150, +8), Kevin Tarango who is tied for 49th place (153, +11) Drew Surmeier who tied for 65th place (157, 15) and Matt Hastings in a tie for 67th place (158, +16).


The final round of the OGIO Pacific Coast Intercollegiate will be held Tuesday, Apr. 1, beginning with tee times at 8:00 a.m.
