Brown moves up seven positions to tie for fifth.

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (3/20/2010) - The Boise State men’s golf team shot a 3-over 291 on the final day of the Denver Desert Shootout in Goodyear, Ariz., to tie for ninth place out of 17 teams.  The Broncos recorded their second-best round of the tournament to move up three spots leaping past Kansas State and Memphis and into a tie with Iowa State. Wichita State rallied to claim the overall team title with a three-round score of 9-under 855.

Blake Brown led the Bronco charge carding a 3-under 69 on Saturday’s final 18 holes  to move up seven spots from a tie for 12th into a four-way tie for 5th place with a final total of 6-under 210. It is the second-best score of the season for the sophomore from Arizona. Wichita State’s Dustin Garza held on to his second-day lead with a 69 today earning him medalist honors with a 14-under 202.

Robbie Richards shot a 1-under 71 this afternoon to match his first round total and finish second on the Bronco roster in scoring. The senior from Australia finished in a five-way tie for 37th with a tournament score of 3-over 219. 

Junior Chris Byrne carded a 4-over 76 on the final 18 to finish at 223 (+7), followed by senior John Baranco who recorded a 3-over-par 75 today for a total of 8-over 224. Freshman Taeksoo Kim rounded out the Boise State scoring with a 5-over 77 this afternoon giving him a final tally of 11-over 227.

This was the fourth competition of the spring semester for the Broncos who will now be off until the Western Intercollegiate April 17-18 in Santa Cruz, Calif.
