Brown is tied for 12th place after day two.

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (3/18/2010) - The Boise State men’s golf team struggled a bit today recording a 9-over-par 297 during the second round of the Denver Desert Shootout in Goodyear, Ariz. The Broncos currently have a two-round score of 4-over 580 which places them in 12th place out of 17 teams on the leaderboard. The blue and orange is 22 strokes behind the new leader Eastern Michigan who stands at 558 (-18).   

Blake Brown continues to lead the Broncos carding a 1-over 73 this afternoon giving him a two-round tally of 3-under 141. The sophomore is currently in a seven-way tie, out of 102 participants, for 12th place. Wichita State’s Dustin Garza shot a 7-under 65 today to take the overall lead with a tournament score of 11-under 133.

Boise State junior Chris Byrne fired a 3-over 75 in today’s second round to move into a eight-way tie for 55th with a two-round total of 3-over 147. Robbie Richards is currently third on the Bronco roster after carding a 5-over 77 this afternoon, he has a grand total of 148 (+4). Close behind is senior John Baranco who shot even-par 72 today for a total of 5-over 149, followed by freshman Taeksoo Kim at 150 (+6) after recording a 6-over 78 during Friday’s session.

This is the fourth competition of the spring semester for the Broncos. Boise State will look to move up the standings tomorrow as the Broncos are within 12 strokes of fifth place. Saturday’s final round of the three-day Denver Desert Shootout will once again be staged at Palm Valley Golf Club.
