FRESNO, Calif. – Freshman Keawe Soares posted a career-low, 3-under 69, and junior Taeksoo Kim recorded a 2-under 70, putting the Broncos under-par in the second round of the Fresno State Lexus Classic, Monday.

Soares’s performance in the second round put him at 1-over through the tournament’s first 36 holes (145), and the freshman – playing in just his second-collegiate event – will enter the final round just two strokes back of the top 20.

Kim is just one stroke back of Soares after the first two rounds of the tournament, played at the par-72, 6,765-yard Fort Washington Country Club.

Senior Scott Spiewak was 2-under through his first 10 holes, but encountered a rough stretch during the final eight holes of his opening round. He rebounded with an even-par 72 in the second, finishing the day with a two-round total of 151 (+7).

The Broncos will enter the final round in 14th with a two-round total of 747 (+27).

Rounding out the scoring for Boise State were Taylor Porter (152, +8), Clayton Kosanovich (155, +11) and Jon VanDyk (155, +11).

The teams will tee off both the front and back nine for Tuesday’s final round, beginning at 9 a.m.
