Humphreys Named Golfer Of The Week
March 1, 2017

BOISE, Idaho - Freshman golfer Brian Humphreys was named Mountain West Golfer of the Week for the second time this spring, the conference announced Wednesday. It is also his third conference honor of the season, as Humphreys was named the Mountain West Golfer of the Month for October/November during the fall season.

Humphreys, who claimed his first weekly honor back on Feb. 7, picked up his second tournament victory of the season Tuesday, finishing the Del Walker Intercollegiate at Virginia Country Club in Long Beach, Calif., at 1-under to claim medalist honors. His performance, in which he fired rounds of 70-68-71, paced a Bronco quintet that captured the team title at the event for the program's first tournament crown since winning the Utah Invitational back on Oct. 8, 2013. It was also the 16th tournament title in program history.

The individual victory is also Humphreys' fourth top-three finish this season, following his win at the Ogio Utah Invitational (Oct. 3-4), second-place finish at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational (Oct. 27-29) and third-place effort at the Folino Invitational (Jan. 30-31).

In this week's tournament win, Humphreys, Donny Hopoi, Connor Johnstone, Tristan Rohrbaugh and Mason Schulze completed the program's largest final-round comeback, overcoming an eight-stroke deficit to leader Cal Poly. Collectively, the Broncos shot a team score of 284 (+4) in the final round, highlighted by Schulze's 67 which featured an eagle on the par-5 No. 18.

Boise State returns to action March 12-14 at the Bandon Dunes Invitational in Bandon, Ore.
