ST. GEORGE, Utah – Junior Taeksoo Kim leads the Boise State University men’s golf team after the opening round of the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational, Monday.

Kim opened the spring season with a 4-over-par 76 at the 6,828-yard Sunbrook Golf Club, and is just five strokes back of the top 10 entering Tuesday’s final round.

The Thunderbird Invitational, hosted by the Southern Utah University, is the first tournament of the spring season for the Broncos. The team played a one-round, tri-duel event Saturday against Oral Roberts University and Western Illinois University, though the scores and results did not count.

The Broncos shot 309 (+21) on the first day and are in 14th place as a team headed into the second round of the 36-hole event.

Rounding out the Bronco contingent were senior Taylor Porter (77, +5), freshman Jon VanDyk (77, +5), senior Scott Spiewak (79, +7) and redshirt junior Jordan Skyles (82, +10).

Final results will be posted at BroncoSports.com after Tuesday’s final round.
