BOISE, Idaho - Boise State men's golf begins the spring portion of the 2016-17 season this Monday-Tuesday at the Folino Invitational in City of Industry, Calif. The two-day, three-round event will be played on the 7,211-yard, par-72 Eisenhower Course ("The Ike") at Industry Hills Golf Club.

The five-man lineup the Broncos will send to Southern California consists of juniors Jacob Byers and Donny Hopoi, and the freshman trio of Brian Humphreys, Connor Johnstone and Mason Schulze. Sophomore Alex Francois will also make the trip, competing as an individual entry. The Broncos will compete in a 10-team field that also includes host Cal State Fullerton, University of British Columbia, CSUN, CSU Bakersfield, La Verne, Long Beach State, UC Irvine, UC Riverside and UC Santa Barbara.

Boise State aims to build off of its success from the fall season, during which it posted three top-10 finishes, including finishes of fourth at the Ogio Utah Invitational (Oct. 3-4) and tied for fifth at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational (Oct. 27-29). Humphreys became Boise State's first golfer to earn medalist honors in two years when he tied for the victory at the Ogio Utah Invitational, firing a three-under. He then finished tied for second in Stockton en route to being named Mountain West Golfer of the Month for the month of October.

This week's action will be the first of seven spring tournaments in which the Broncos will compete before the 2017 Mountain West Championships, scheduled for April 21-23 in Tucson, Ariz.
