Day One Results 

Brian Humphreys and Donny Hopoi established strong position during the first day of the Southern Dunes Invitational, Saturday.

Humphreys is second at 7-under (66-71 – 137), three strokes back of Riley Elmes of Loyola Marymount at the top of the leaderboard. The sophomore also is tied for the lead in the field with 12 birdies.

Humphreys opening score of 66 was the second lowest round of the day.

Hopoi is a stroke back of the top 10 after moving 13 spots up the leaderboard in today’s second round. Hopoi carded 144 (75-69, E), and his second round score of 69 was tied for the second lowest score of the round.

The Broncos are in third in the team standings with a combined score of 580 (290-290, +4).

“Brian played great today and Donny had a really solid second round,” Boise State head coach Dan Potter said. “Those guys kept us in it. We had a few guys struggle in the same round, which we haven’t had happen until today. We’ll have to have all five in it tomorrow to make a run, so I’m anxious to see how we bounce back and finish tomorrow.”

After opening the tournament with three-straight bogeys on the front nine in the first round, freshman Skyler Eubank rebounded to end the day at 3-over. Eubank shot 147 (75-72) on the day, and heads to tomorrow’s final round in the top 25 in a tie for 18th.

Jun Ho Won (74-79 – 153, +9) and Jacob Byers (83-78 – 161, +17) round out the scoring for Boise State.
