March 21, 2016

LAKESIDE, Calif. – In the second of two Spring Break tournaments for the Boise State men’s golf team, senior Logan France is in the top 10 and the Broncos are in fourth following the first two rounds of the Barona Collegiate Cup, Monday.

France opened with a 3-under 69 at the par-72, 7,354-yard Barona Creek Golf Club, then followed with a 2-over 74. He is tied for 10th place with a 1-under 143 through two rounds.

Junior Kyle Mitsunaga is tied for 18th at 2-over, carding a 1-under 71 in the opener and following with a 75 (+3).

The duo has the Broncos in fourth place, two strokes back of third (Sacramento State).

“Logan was solid for us today,” head coach Dan Potter said. “He’s been frustrated lately, so it was nice to see him having more fun out there. We played better for most of the day and stumbled a bit coming in. Handling the finish to a long day continues to be something we need to improve on.”

Sophomore Tristan Rohrbaugh (74-77) and freshman Connor Bell (76-75) each finished at 151 (+7) on the first day, and junior Travis Evans rounded out the scoring at 164 (80-84, +20).

Tournament-host and 24th-ranked San Diego State leads the field at 21-under, and Minnesota’s Runar Anorsson is five strokes clear of his nearest competitor, shooting 11-under.

The final round of the tournament is set for a 9:30 a.m. (MT) shotgun start, and live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
