Skyles Leads Trio of Broncos in Top 25

ELK GROVE, Calif. – Jordan Skyles entered the Sacramento State Invitational with one sub-par round in four tournaments thus far this season, but broke par in each of his two rounds at the Valley Hi Country Club Monday, leading the way for the Boise State men’s golf team.

Skyles posted an opening-round 1-under 71 and followed with a 2-under 70, good for a fifth-place tie after the opening day. With a two-round total of 141 (-3), he will enter Tuesday’s final 18 holes four strokes back of tournament leader Glen Scher of UC Santa Barbara.

T.K. Kim and Jon VanDyk also opened with first-round 71s (-1), helping the Broncos card a team score of 287 (-1) – tied for the lowest single-round team score in relation to par this season.

The Broncos followed with a second-round 289 (+1), and at even par for the tournament are just four strokes back of the Gauchos, who led the field with a 4-under 572.

Boise State is also just two strokes back of a tie for second.

Kim will enter the final round tied for 11th, one stroke back of the top 10 after posting a two-round total of 145 (+1). Logan France is tied for 21st after rounds of 74-72 (146; +2), though just two strokes back of the top 10.

VanDyk closed with a 76 (+4), and is one stroke back of the top 25 with a 36-hole total of 147 (+3). Clayton Kosanovich rounded out the scoring for Boise State, carding a day-one total of 148 (75-73; +4).
