Hopoi Leads Broncos at Bandon Dunes

BANDON, Ore. - Boise State senior Donny Hopoi fired an even-par 71 to lead the Broncos on the opening day of the Bandon Dunes Championship at Bandon, Ore., on Sunday afternoon.

Hopoi, native of Aiea, Hawaii, tallied four birdies on Sunday and was one over par on the front nine before drawing even after going one under on the back nine. He currently sits in a tie for 21st after the first 18 holes, six strokes behind the leaders Kyler Dinkle (Utah) and Chun An Yu (Arizona State) at 65 (-6).

Sophomore Brian Humphreys and junior Alex Francois both fired two-over 73s on Sunday and are tied with five others for 41st. Humphreys recorded two birdies, while Francois had four on the day.

Rounding out the first day were Jun Ho Won at 77 (+6) and Skyler Eubank at 78 (+8).

As a team the Broncos shot a combined 10-over par 294, 20 strokes back of the leader 22nd-ranked Arizona State who sits at 10-under

The tournament will continue on Monday and Tuesday with 18 holes on each day. The second round will begin tomorrow at 9 a.m. (MT) with all tee times being played off the first hole.
