Broncos Conclude Opening Day in LA

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. – Senior Logan France and junior Kyle Mitsunaga led the Boise State men’s golf team through the first two rounds of the Southwestern Jones Invitational, Monday.

France posted rounds of 78-73 at the par-72, 6,992-yard Lakes & Oaks Courses at the North Ranch Country Club, while Mistunaga shot 73-78. The duo is tied for 40th with two-round totals of 151 (+7).

France had been tied for 23rd before falling back in the second round, while Mitsunaga moved 21 spots up the leaderboard with his 1-over second-round score.

In a field that includes six of the nation’s top 50 teams, the Broncos will enter the final round in 15th following back-to-back rounds of 305 (+17). Boise State is a stroke back of San Diego and five strokes back of BYU.

Junior Travis Evans (78-77—155, +11), sophomore Jacob Byers (76-80—156, +12) and freshman Alex Francois (80-77—157, +13) rounded out the scoring for the Broncos.

Boise State is set to tee off the back nine for Tuesday’s final round beginning at 8:57 a.m. (MT), and live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.

USC leads the tournament at 24-under, while the Trojans’ Jonah Texeira leads individually at 8-under.
