LONG BEACH, Calif. - Play at the Del Walker Intercollegiate was suspended late in the second round due to darkness Monday. Unofficial scores, according to Golfstat, show Boise State tied for fourth with UC Irvine at 13-over at the time of stoppage.

First-round scores are official and in the book, while the second round remains unofficial due to golfers still being out on the course and scorecards unconfirmed. Players will resume second-round play at 8:30 a.m. MT Tuesday with the final round following immediately afterward.

The Broncos stayed consistent all day in the wet, overcast conditions on the par-70, 6,366-yard course at Virginia Country Club, with freshmen Brian Humphreys and Mason Schulze shooting even par in the first round to pace the quintet. Donny Hopoi carded an opening-round 72 while Connor Johnstone (73) and Tristan Rohrbaugh (76) helped keep the Broncos in the thick of the competition, finishing the first round second among the 14-team field at 5-over (285).

After the opening round, Boise State was eight strokes back of Cal Poly, and on the individual leaderboard Humphreys and Schulze were tied for sixth, five strokes back of Cal Poly's Justin De Los Santos.

"It was great to have all five guys hang in there today. We talked last week about avoiding some of the big numbers that have killed us, and for the most part they did a nice job," said Boise State head coach Dan Potter. "As a result, we are in the tournament without really doing anything special. If we can get a couple of guys going low tomorrow, we have a chance."
