Feb. 17, 2015

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. – Ty Travis posted the best round of the 54-hole Folino Golf Invitational today with a five-under par score of 67 to tie for medalist honors. The tournament was hosted by Cal State Fullerton and played at the Ike Course of the Industry Hills Golf Club.

A senior from Eagle, Idaho, Travis finished the tournament at one-under par to tie Taylor Knoll and Aaron Beverly of Sacramento State for first place. Travis opened the tournament with a four-over par 76 on Monday, before coming back with an even-par score of 72 in the second round.

This is Travis’ first tournament win since becoming a Bronco in 2013 following his transfer from Weber State. Travis did tie for a 54-hole lead at the Utah Invitational during his junior season (2014) at Boise State, but lost the medalist title in a playoff.

Travis’ effort helped the Broncos to a fifth place finish as a team with a 54-hole score of 901, 37-over par. Boise State opened the tournament on Monday with a round of 308 (+20), before shooting a second round score of 298 (+10) and a final round of 295 (+7).

Sacramento State won the tournament with an 875 scored, 11 over par.

Boise State had one more top-20 finisher as junior Shane Allor posted an 11-over par score of 227 to finish tied for 19th.

Other Broncos competing included Logan France who tied for 27th with a 230 score (+14); Tristan Rohrbaugh with a 232 (+16) to tie for 31st; and Jacob Byers who tied for 42nd with a 54-hole score of 236 (+20).

Boise State is now off from competition for a few weeks before teeing it up March 19-21 (Thursday-Saturday) at the Desert Shootout in Goodyear, Ariz.
