Freshman Leads Broncos in Opening Round at Thunderbird Invitational

ST. GEORGE, Utah - Boise State freshman Tristan Rohrbaugh is tied for 15th after the first round of the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational Monday, the Broncos' opening tournament of the spring season.

Rohrbaugh fired five birdies en route to a 1-under 71 at the par-72, 6,781-yard Pointe and Black Rock nines at the Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George, Utah. He enters the final round two strokes back from the top 10.

Junior Logan France posted a 1-over 73, just one stroke shy of the top 25.

Boise State is in ninth place after carding a team score of 294 (+6). Utah Valley leads the tournament with a total of 281 (-7).

Rounding out the scoring for the Broncos were junior Shane Allor (74, +2), senior Ty Travis (76, +4) and freshman Jacob Byers (80, +8).

Sophomore Kyle Mitsunaga competed as an individual and shot even-par for the round.

The final round is set to begin tomorrow morning.
