BOISE – Boise State football head coach Chris Petersen announced the signing of defensive tackle Tutulupeatau (Deuce) Mataele to a National Letter of Intent, Thursday.

Mataele, the fourth student-athlete to sign with the Broncos during the mid-year signing period, will join Boise State in January.

Petersen announced the signings of cornerback Cleshawn Page (Los Angeles), kicker Tyler Rausa (Murrieta, Calif.) and running back Derrick Thomas (Dothan, Ala.) to National Letters of Intent, Wednesday. All three will also join the Broncos in January.

Mataele (6-foot-3, 285 pounds), originally from West Valley, Utah (Granger HS), will join the Broncos as a junior after spending the last two seasons at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif.

As a sophomore for the Mounties in 2012, Mataele registered 42 tackles (23 solo), including 14.5 for-loss and 10.5 sacks – both team highs. He also forced three fumbles and broke up a pass.

During his freshman season he recorded 39 tackles (19 solo), including 10 TFLs and four sacks. He also had four pass break-ups, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
